Archintorno is an Italian not-for-profit organization established in Naples in 2005 by young, Neapolitan architects wanting to realize an integrated project involving Architecture and International Cooperation. We were inspired to start Archintorno after participating in an architecture practicum in Mexico hosted by the Technical University of Berlin.
Since 2005, we have established our own practice areas including a project to experiment with the reuse of waste materials and projects that support the promotion and enhancement of public spaces and forgotten architectural heritage.
We are active in Montesanto (a territory in the historic center of Naples) where we work within the Coordination of Le Scalze, a group of associations that are managing the return of the San Giuseppe delle Scalze Church to the local community through active citizenship practices.
We are Italy’s representative in the European DesignBuild Studio Knowledge Network, an EU-funded body that promotes the implementation, distribution, and sustainability of the DesignBuild teaching and research model.
Archintorno’s Mission
Archintorno promotes and develops architectural projects that are linked to a culture of self-construction and recovery and contribute to the processes of self-development for communities.
The participation and activation of networks of solidarity and cooperation amongst associations, governments and citizens is fundamental to our work.
